Two Henderson back yards of the same size can price differently by thousands, and the reasons are worth knowing before you collect any quote:
Caliche depth. The hardpan layer sits at different depths across the valley. Where it is shallow and thick, excavation needs heavier equipment and more hours. This is the biggest single variable here.
Access. Block-walled back yards with a single narrow gate mean every ton of base material moves by hand.
Shape and edges. Straight runs cut fast. Curved borders against decomposed granite, planters and pool coping take precision work.
What is coming out. Live Bermuda with established root mass takes longer than existing rock.
Turf specification. A full-sun pool surround with dogs needs cooling turf and pet backing. A shaded courtyard does not.

Turf is a commodity. Two installers can quote the same product and deliver results that diverge completely by year three, and here the difference is almost always what happened at excavation.
Caliche — the cemented calcium carbonate hardpan under much of the Las Vegas Valley — is close to concrete in hardness and effectively impermeable. Where it sits shallow, you cannot simply dig to depth with a shovel, and water that reaches it stops moving. A base built without accounting for that traps water under the turf after monsoon storms and shifts as the ground moves.
We probe for it before quoting, excavate through or around it as the site requires, and build drainage that works with it rather than pretending it is not there.
